The aim of the scuba teen camp is to introduce those aged between 12 and 15 to the underwater world in a safe and controlled setting.
The first session will be held in the Kilkee Waterworld Swimming Pool on a Monday evening. You will be shown the scuba unit and take your first few breaths underwater here. Once comfy, we will show you a couple of skills and have an underwater tour of the pool to put what you have learned into practice.
Tuesday and Wednesday will continue to build on what you have learned. This will take place from 10am -1pm in the shallow water off the beach, where you will get to explore the area and see who and what lives in and on the sand.
On Thursday, as it is the last day, we will get the boat and take it over to our house reef, Newfy! This is an amazing reef where you can find many different fish species and other marine life. We will have a shallow dive from the boat before returning to the dive Centre and hearing what everyone saw over a glass of lemonade. Some theory work is involved, which will be covered throughout the week.
After completing the course, you will have a certification which will allow you to dive with a SSI dive professional to a maximum of 12m for 6 months.
Age: This is for those aged 12-15.
What to bring: Swimming costume, towel, warm clothes, snacks.
Medical: Please read the attached medical before you book. If you answer yes to questions 3, 5, or 10 or any of the questions on page 2, you will need to see your doctor before starting the waterwork.
